Christmas Poem by My Mother

It's ChristmasAnd we need each otherOne tree is on the low skyI have seen that tree beforeDreams across the hills collectLike silver knives in a velvet pouchAn alien who landed here might sayHow busy we are how little timeWe have for each otherFeelings teem beneath chaste berriesSo glad to see cold breath fall from loved ones' lipsHow awkward and how perfect the cityThe ice-skaters and the lightsIf I didn't tell you before let me tell you nowI love you Merry Christmas
